Katy Taylor > Junior Ladies
2004 World Junior Bronze Medalist

Katy Lynn Taylor, aka "Skaty Katy," was born October 22, 1989.  The 4’8” Houston, Tex. native skates for Texas Gulf Coast FSC and trains under Jana Vackar-Conter and B.L. Wylie.  Taylor’s programs are choreographed by Vackar-Conter and Caryn Kadavy.  Taylor trains in Houston and Sugarland, Tex. and began skating at age six.  Taylor, who told Unseen Skaters that her “education always comes before skating” attends Mayde Creek Junior High School.

Taylor feels that the strongest aspects of her skating are jumps and speed.  She likes the triple loop jump, layback spins, doing Ina Bauers and names Sasha Cohen, Michelle Kwan, Paul Wylie and Alexei Yagudin as her favorite skaters.  Taylor hopes to one day compete at the Olympics, become a pro skater and attend veterinary or law school.  Off the ice, she likes to swim, cook, write, hang out with her friends and play with her dog.

“I really like everything about [skating]!  It is so much fun to skate really fast around the ice, and I like the thrill of big jumps and fast spins!  I like the challenge skating offers and the feeling of satisfaction when you accomplish something new!” says Taylor about her love of skating.
