Shayna Syken > Retired from Senior Ladies
2002 South Atlantic Regional Champion

Shayna Syken, of Wilmington, DE, trains at Iceworks in Aston, PA. She is coached by Liz Manley and her programs are choreographed by Lisa Bell. She skates for the Ice Works SC. Syken, who has won the South Atlantic Senior Ladies and Junior Olympics Juvenile Girls titles, hopes to one day win National, World and Olympic medals.

Born in Chester, PA on October 29, 1986, Syken began skating at the age of seven at a public session. She attends Laurel Springs High School, and enjoys reading, shopping, movies, the internet, and being with her friends. Her favorite jump is the triple loop and she likes the layback spin. Syken's younger sister, Jenna, is also a competitive skater. Says Syken of skating: "when you work hard at something and see the results that happen, it makes it all that more worthwhile and fulfilling for yourself."

Syken decided to stop skating competitively in the summer of 2003. She plans to attend the University of Delaware and study sports medicine.
