Stephanie Sprayregen > Novice Ladies
2003 Coupe de Printemps Silver Medalist
Stephanie Sprayregen was born on February 10, 1989 to a Malaysian mother and an American father. She started skating when she was seven years old in group lessons. A year later, she started taking private lessons. She now trains in Burlington, VT at the Vermont SC at Cairns Arena (her home club) and in Boston at the Skating Club of Boston. She commutes to Boston three days a week to work with Tommy McGinnis. In Vermont she trains with Kathy Carey. She works with both coaches on her choreography. Although she is not sure what her long-term off ice goals are yet, Sprayregen hopes to skate to the very best of her ability throughout her skating career and to someday compete at the Olympics. She says she admires Michelle Kwan “for her incredible work ethic and her love of competition.” She considers winning the silver medal at the Coupe de Printemps competition in Luxembourg to be the most memorable moment in her career so far. She says her favorite jump is the double axel/double toe loop combination, and she likes the layback spin. She credits her parents with having had the greatest influence on her skating and says she loves to skate because it combines athleticism and art.
