Aanya Reiten > Senior Ladies
2004 Pacific Coast Sectional Silver Medalist

Aanya Reiten was born in Puyallup, Wash. on September 19, 1986. She began skating at age nine, after watching the 1995 U.S. National Championships on T.V. Later that year she began skating every Sunday during the public session at the Lakewood Winter Club in Reiten's hometown of Spanaway, Wash., before eventually beginning private lessons. She currently trains with Jim White at the Sprinkler Recreation Center in Tacoma, Wash. Reiten also works with Nanci Sullivan in Kent Valley, Wash. each week. She travels regularly to the Aliso Viejo Ice Palace in California to work with John Nicks, Roger Bass and choreographer Phillip Mills. She represents the Lakewood Winter Club.

Reiten used to also compete in ice dance. She feels that dancing has greatly influenced her singles skating, helping her to learn better flow and edging on the ice. Her favorite skaters are Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen, and Jamie Silverstein, and she feels that the person who has had the biggest impact on her skating is Kim Underwood. After she stops skating, Reiten hopes to continue to be active in the skating world. In the mean time, she enjoys swimming, being active in her church and playing the piano. A high school graduate, Reiten is currently working on earning an Associates Degree from Pierce College.
