Molly Oberstar > Novice Ladies
2004 Midwestern Sectional Novice Ladies Bronze Medalist

Molly Oberstar was born on November 12, 1988. She began skating at age five after seeing her father’s friend’s daughter taking group lessons. She is now coached by Zoë Hill and Heather Seyfer and works with Jill Enerson and Tom Dickson on her programs. In the summer she trains in Duluth, Minn. at the Hermantown Arena and at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center during the school year. She skates for the Duluth FSC.

Oberstar hopes to compete at Nationals as a Senior Lady, as well as at the Olympics. After her eligible career is over, she would like to coach and choreograph. She admires Michelle Kwan because the “emotion she expresses through her skating is unbelievable - when I watched her compete at Nationals I felt her power through the whole rink. Someday I want to be as respected and looked up to as she is today.” Other favorite skaters are Sasha Cohen and Ann Patrice McDonough. Oberstar favors the “Donut, Biellmann, or the Sasha spin[s]. I also like doing Charlottes and finding any new and interesting positions that nobody has done before.”

Off the ice she enjoys being and instant messaging with her friends, listening to music and singing. Oberstar says: “I love being able to express myself in skating. I love the rush you get when you finally master something you've been working on for a long time. I love the joy of flying around the ice.”
