Kayla Freeborn > Senior Ladies
2001 US National Novice Ladies Champion

16 year old Kayla Freeborn has been skating since the age of five. Says Freeborn, "I can't image my life without ice skates!" Currently skating as a Junior Lady, she trains with Evy and Mary Scotvold at the Tony Kent Arena in MA, and with Paul Salas in Providence, RI at her home club. (She skates for the Pawtucket & Providence FSC.) "It's very motivating training along side hard-working, talented skaters like Jenny Kirk and Louann Donovan," says Freeborn.

Freeborn formerly skated pairs, and finished second at the 1998 Junior Olympics in Juvenile Pairs. She and her partner were also extras in a skating scene in the movie, The Preacher's Wife. "It took one whole week to shoot a scene that lasted three minutes," Freeborn laughs.

Freeborn is currently enrolled full-time in high school, where she takes all honors classes. She is part of her school's gymnastics team.
