Kelsey Drewel > Senior Ladies
2001 US National Novice Ladies Champion

Kelsey Marie Drewel was born in St. Louis, MO, on May 17, 1987. At the age of eight, she attended a friend's skating birthday party and was instantly hooked on skating. Drewel is originally from Troy, MO, and she currently trains in St. Peters and Wentzville, MO, and Woodridge, IL. She previously trained at the University of Delaware from late 1999 to May 2002. She skates for the St. Louis SC and is coached by her first and original coach, Jill Davis Irvin. Irvin is also her choreographer. She is currently enrolled in the A Beka Academy's home school program. She is just under 5'0".

In January 2001, Drewel won the 2001 U.S. National Championship at the Novice level. She told Unseen Skaters that: "It was a very exciting experience and I had the time of my life. When I won I was so excited and thrilled that I had won, and I just couldn't believe I had done it." She followed up her national title with a silver medal at her first international and junior competition, Triglav Trophy, a few months later.

In October 2002, Drewel competed in her first senior international, Vienna Cup, in Austria, where she placed 7th. She qualified for her first Nationals at the Senior level in 2003 at the age of 15, and finished 19th. Off the ice, she enjoys being with her friends and family, shopping, swimming, and dancing.
