Louann Donovan > Senior Ladies
2002 US National Junior Ladies Champion
Louann Michelle Donovan was born on September 26, 1986. She began skating at age six in a USFSA Basic Skills Program in Stoneham, MA, and later skated on an all boys hockey team. She was inspired to start skating after watching Nancy Kerrigan compete at the 1992 Olympics.
Donovan, who is 5', currently lives in Medford, MA, but trains in South Dennis, MA at the Tony Kent Arena. She is coached by Evy and Mary Scotvold (who coached Nancy Kerrigan and Paul Wylie), and skates for the Skating Club of Boston. Cheryl Franks and Mary Scotvold choreograph her programs, and Michelle Kwan and Kurt Browning are her favorite skaters.
In the future, Donovan would like to continue to skate for the United States in international competitions. "The first time you hear the announcer say 'Louann Donovan, representing the United States of America!' is so great! I will never forget it. I felt so proud!" Donovan told Unseen Skaters in 2000.
Donovan attends Newman Preparatory School and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She likes the technical aspect of skating, and her favorite moves are the triple loop, triple salchow and layback spin.
