Michael Berg was born on September 16, 1986. He began skating at age four after his father took him to the rink. He is currently coached by Akop Manokian and Jozef Sabojick at the Utah FSC. Doug Webster choreographs his programs. He considers his jumps to be his strongest elements and his spins to be his weakest.

His long-term goals including competing at the Olympics and becoming a good hip-hop break dancer. Berg's parents have greatly impacted his skating, providing both monetary and financial support. Off the ice, Berg enjoys camping, hiking, building and fixing things and riding motocycles. He hopes to find a sponser so that he may skate more frequently.
