Alexa Ainsworth was born on September 22, 1985. She currently lives in Cape Elizabeth, ME, and trains in Falmouth, ME with Amy D'Entremont, Deb Coppinger, and Marty MacDiarmid. In the summer, she travels to the University of Delaware in Newark, DE to work with Jeff DiGregorio and Paul Dulebohn. Ainsworth's programs are choreographed by Jill Cosgrove, and she skates for the North Atlantic FSC.

Ainsworth became seious about skating after watching Paul Wylie compete at the 1992 Olympics. She skated pairs for three years with Noah Abrahams, and together they won the 1998 Junior Olympic Bronze medal at the Intermediate level. Ainsworth & Abrahams also won several Regional and Sectional medals before splitting so Ainsworth could focus on singles.
