Stephanie Roth Journal (09/29/03) by Stephanie Roth
Exclusive to Unseen Skaters. September 29, 2003.
Before I tell you about Mids I just want to apologize for not putting any new pictures up. My new computer isn't compatible with my old scanner, so until I can get someone to scan them for me, I can't send any pictures. Anyway, Middle Atlantics was a little over a week ago and I came in 3rd. I had kind of a shaky skate in the short, but after the 6 minute warm up I had I was lucky to do what I did. I can honestly say that every year since 1998 at Middle Atlantics, I have not done a good short, so at least I kept with my own personal tradition. The long program was thrilling for me though. I had one of those skates that as I got further into the program I just got more energized and landing the very last double axel was icing on the cake. It was so sweet! I made a few small mistakes, but for a September competition my performance was right where I want it to be. The crowd was enthusiastic and I enjoyed that program. It's honestly the best and most difficult program I've completed since Easterns in 2002. I feel like I got that competitive edge back that's been missing from my skating. I've been practicing well and feel like my competitions are the time to show everyone how hard I've been working and that all the work is paying off. I've got 3 more weeks before Norths and my mind is set on doing everything I'm capable of and putting out strong performaces. I've got my head in the right spot, so hopefully all goes well! Talk to you soon... Love,
