Flo Steed & Augie Hill Partnership to End
Press Release. April 9, 2003.
Flo Steed & Augie Hill, ice dance team since June 2000 and winners of the Junior Dance bronze medal at the 2003 Nationals in Dallas, are ending their partnership and evaluating the prospects of alternative partners for both. The reason is the growing height difference between the two -- Flo is 5 feet 1 inch, while Augie is now 5 feet 11 and still growing. Both skaters are 17 years of age; Augie will turn 18 in August and Flo is 18 in September.During the past season, the team competed in Junior Grand Prix events in Courchevel, France, and in Montreal, Canada. Their fourth and sixth place finishes netted them a ranking of 18th on the ISU's list of international Junior Dance teams, third highest of US teams. Other highlights of the team's competitive history include their winning the Novice pewter medal (4th place) at the 2001 Nationals in Boston, placing 6th in Junior Dance at 2002 Nationals in Los Angeles, and winning the bronze medal in Dallas. A summary of their competitive results is as follows:
The team was formed after getting together at the USFSA-sponsored partner tryouts in Colorado Springs in April of 2000. Flo and Augie have enjoyed competing together and are very proud of their accomplishments. Both have expressed commitment to continuing ice dance competition in the future. The team was coached by Warren and Olivia Maxwell at their training site in Plano, Texas. For additional information, contact:
