Stephanie Roth Journal (08/18/02) by Stephanie Roth
Exclusive to Unseen Skaters. August 18, 2002.

Hi everyone,

I'm guessing at this point most of you know how I placed at Liberty. For those of you who don't know I took second in the short and sixth in the long. I was really pretty pleased with myself especially for the short. I was actually expecting to place better in the long than in the short because I felt more comfortable with my long. But, either way, this has been the best summer competition for me in two years. So, I think that was a good start for me for the season. I got out of it what I needed - like what needs work - and I pretty much got very positive feedback about my programs. That was pretty sweet because I choreographed them both!

Unfortunately, two weeks ago I started suffering from major back and went to the doctor right away. My lower vertebrae were out of alignment and I pulled the muscles on the right lower side of my spine. So, for the past two weeks I've only been doing one, maybe two sessions a day and haven't been doing many triples. This week I get to jump more and test the waters to see how it goes. I'm praying everything will be back to normal. Because of this setback I have withdrawn from the Chesapeake Open because I won't be ready, and I don't want to have a negative competitive experience. If all goes well this week I should have plenty of time to get ready for Middle Atlantics. I'm really looking forward to getting back in Chelsea Piers again after not getting the chance last year, besides I get to skate at my home rink which is always fun and I'll have my new dresses! Hope everyone has been having a great summer and have a Happy Labor Day!

Love,
Steph
