Spotlight on Lindsey Weber by Anna
Exclusive to Unseen Skaters. November 1, 2000.

Lindsey Weber, the 2000 Skate Detroit Champion and 2000 Eastern Great Lake Regional Champion, recently took the time to do an interview with Unseen Skaters.

You just had to withdraw from Regionals due to a stress fracture. What happened?
I was having problems with my ankle because my skates had broken down, and when I finally went to get it checked out we found out about the stress fracture. I have taken three weeks off and I am starting back on the ice on Monday [October 23, 2000]!

What are your goals for yourself this season?
My goals for this season are to medal at the U.S National Championships and to make the U.S International Junior Grand Prix circuit.

What are your long-term goals in skating and non-skating wise?
Hopefully in the near future I would like to make the World and Olympic team. I also plan to go to college.

This year, you choreographed both of your exhibitions. What made you decided to do it and was it difficult?
I love to make up programs and my coach didn't have a lot of time, so he said 'Have fun!' I picked my two favorite songs and just played around with them till I was happy! It was so much fun!

A lot of the skaters that you competed against at Nationals last year took the Senior test this summer. Why did you decide to stay Junior?
I think the Senior field is incredibly talented and has great depth right now. My goal was to get a medal at Juniors and make a name for myself before moving into the Senior ranks. (Which I plan to do next season.)

You have an official website with over 85 guest book messages, as well as an unofficial message board. Do you think that the Internet has made skating fans more aware of Novice and Junior skaters?
I think so. All the senior skaters get the press and TV, but the Novice and Juniors work just as hard, and I think a lot of people are starting to recognize this. It's great that people are becoming more aware that there are more talented skaters out there, and are recognizing them for it! Thanks to all of you!

Anything special that we should look for in your programs this year?
Compared to last year my triples are very solid and consistent. I think my short program is my favorite program so far, and it has a very beautiful soft feeling to it! So I hope you all see an overall improvement in my skating quality. Also I'm traveling to Alabama to work with Editha Dotson-Bowsor this week to work on my long. She does an amazing job! Between her and Yuka Sato my programs will hopefully be great this season!

What is it about skating that makes you go back to the rink everyday?
I love to practice and have goals to accomplish! I also have a lot of energy so skating is great for me! I also just the feeling of getting a new jump or doing great at competitions!
